The YANA Newport County Board of Directors is pleased to share these recent accomplishments we achieved in 2025 with our community:
- YANA Newport serves 13 12-step groups across 17 meetings per week, with an approximate weekly attendance of ~250 people who are a part of our recovery community.
- A new Alateen meeting started at YANA-Newport on Sundays, after more than four years of not having an Alateen meeting in Rhode Island.
- For Middletown Wellness Month in March, YANA collaborated with the Middletown Prevention Coalition by hosting wellness sessions (Health, Yoga, and Mindfulness through Art).
- A recovery-focused Gong Bath event was held in May to help members and guests enjoy stress relief and deep relaxation through vibrations and sounds.
- YANA launched its new interactive website in June.
- AA hosted a Guest Speaker Luncheon at YANA in August, with William H. Schaberg, the author of Writing The Big Book.
- The 4th Anniversary Celebration of YANA Newport Country took place on September 26 at the YANA Clubhouse.
- YANA hosted its First Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser on September 28 at the Jamestown Golf Course.
- District 5 AA events included the Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve Alkathons.
- In early December, YANA hosted a new Expungement Clinic, in partnership with the Rhode Island Public Defender’s Office. The event was covered in a feature story in Newport This Week.
- Over the course of the year, YANA was awarded a grant that helped cover 45% of operational costs with the help of grant writer Grants New England.
- As of September, YANA has been working with a marketing consultant to support our Membership Drive and community-building. To date, YANA has exceeded the annual goal in donations and has increased in membership from last year.
A special thank you to all who helped make these accomplishments happen!
