The film “The First Day” chronicles this journey, highlighting Herren’s vulnerability and his deep connections with high school students, many of whom have shared their own stories of struggle and resilience. Through the power of storytelling,
“The First Day” not only brings awareness to issues affecting school systems, communities, and individuals nationwide—including substance use, harmful behaviors, and mental wellness—but has also moved individuals to take action—seeking help, starting conversations, and beginning their own recovery journeys after hearing Chris’s message.
